Tanks, Inc. Fuel Tanks & EFI Systems - Fuel Pumps

Authorized Tanks, Inc. Dealer

Upgrade your classic car, muscle car, hot rod, or custom truck with a high-quality in-tank electric fuel pump system from Tanks, Inc. Whether you're converting a carbureted vehicle to electronic fuel injection, installing a modern LS, LT, or Ford Coyote engine, or upgrading the fuel delivery system in a high-performance restomod, Tanks, Inc. offers fuel pump solutions designed for reliable operation and consistent fuel delivery.

Squid's Rod Shop offers Tanks, Inc. electric fuel pump modules and EFI retrofit kits for custom automotive applications. Our current catalog includes PA-Series in-tank fuel pump conversion systems and a high-flow GPA-Series fuel pump module. Available flow capacities range from 190 to 340 liters per hour, providing options for different engine combinations and fuel delivery requirements.

Tanks, Inc. In-Tank Fuel Pump Systems

PA-2 EFI Retrofit Module - 190 LPH: The Tanks, Inc. PA-2 fuel pump module is designed to retrofit an internal electric fuel pump into a compatible conventional fuel tank. This system includes a genuine Walbro fuel pump, internal reservoir tray, adjustable mounting hardware, fuel supply and return provisions, tank venting provisions, and an in-tank electrical harness. The 190 LPH pump provides a fuel delivery option for many factory and aftermarket EFI systems when properly matched to the engine's fuel requirements.

PA-4 High-Flow EFI Retrofit Module - 255 LPH: The PA-4 uses the same general retrofit design as the PA-2 but incorporates a higher-flow 255 LPH Walbro electric fuel pump. This system is intended for applications requiring greater fuel delivery capacity, including modified engines and higher-performance electronic fuel injection conversions.

GPA-5 High-Performance Fuel Pump Module - 340 LPH: The GPA-5 is a high-flow in-tank fuel pump module designed for compatible Tanks, Inc. fuel tanks already equipped with an internal fuel reservoir tray. This system features a high-performance Walbro turbine-style electric pump, a heavy-gauge mounting plate, supply and return fittings, a vent connection, and an internal wiring harness. The GPA-5 supports modern EFI applications requiring increased fuel flow and is compatible with appropriate pulse-width-modulated fuel pump control systems.

PA-Series vs. GPA-Series Fuel Pumps

PA-Series Retrofit Systems: Designed for adapting many conventional fuel tanks to support in-tank electric fuel pumps. These kits include an internal reservoir tray and adjustable mounting components, making them suitable for custom conversions where the original tank was not designed for electronic fuel injection.

GPA-Series Fuel Pump Modules: Designed for compatible Tanks, Inc. fuel tanks already equipped with an internal reservoir tray. These systems provide a more direct installation into compatible EFI-ready fuel tanks without requiring the additional retrofit reservoir assembly.

The standard PA-2 and PA-4 gerotor-style pumps are not compatible with pulse-width-modulated fuel pump control. The GPA-5 uses a different turbine-style pump design that supports appropriate PWM control. Fuel pump control strategy must be verified before selecting a pump for an engine management system.

Fuel Pump Selection & Compatibility

Proper electric fuel pump selection requires consideration of engine horsepower, fuel pressure, required flow rate, fuel type, electrical supply, fuel pressure regulation, and intended vehicle use.

Fuel pump flow decreases as operating pressure increases, so rated pump capacity alone is not sufficient to determine whether a pump will support a particular engine. Actual fuel delivery must be evaluated at the required operating pressure and voltage.

Additional components such as fuel pressure regulators, supply and return lines, filters, wiring relays, tank vents, and compatible fuel-level sending units may be required. Tanks, Inc. fuel pump kits do not include fuel pressure regulators.

Selected in-tank electric fuel pumps can also be used with carbureted engines when installed with an appropriate bypass-style fuel pressure regulator. The regulator must reduce fuel pressure to the level required by the carburetor while maintaining proper fuel circulation.

Tank compatibility must be verified before ordering. PA-Series retrofit modules require sufficient tank depth and clearance for their mounting and reservoir assemblies, while GPA-Series modules require compatible tank openings and internal reservoir configurations.
