Craftsmanship at Every Stage

Custom Metalwork Is One of Our Core Strengths.

Our fabrication team works with sheet metal, chassis structures, stainless components, and complex vehicle modifications. That capability is supported by our paint and body, mechanical, electrical, and assembly technicians—allowing individual fabrication jobs and full builds to be managed with the same attention to detail.

Fabrication Shop & Metal Shaping

Built in Metal. Made for Your Vehicle.

Custom fabrication is a central part of Squid's Rod Shop. Our team uses dedicated metal-shaping equipment and precision fabrication techniques to produce the contours, structures, and finishing details each project requires. We take on standalone fabrication projects as well as the metalwork within complete builds.

More Than Bolt-On Parts

When the right part doesn't exist, we build it.

Our chassis table, power hammer, Pullmax, sheet-metal equipment, and TIG fabrication capabilities help us tackle work that cannot be solved by ordering a replacement part. We can repair original structures, reshape existing sheet metal, and create custom components that become part of the vehicle rather than looking like an afterthought.

  • Custom body modifications and hand-fitted panels
  • Floor, firewall, rocker, and structural metalwork
  • Chassis integration, mounts, and brackets
  • Stainless exhaust and fabricated components

Sheet Metal Shaping & Body Modifications

From custom contours to subtle refinements, we fabricate and fit metal to achieve the intended design without compromising the vehicle's character.

  • Hand-formed panels and custom body details
  • Hood, bumper, and air-dam modifications
  • Floors, firewalls, rockers, and replacement metal

Chassis & Structural Fabrication

Precision fit-up and structural work support better body alignment and proper integration of the vehicle's systems.

  • Chassis-table and body-fixture work
  • Custom mounts, crossmembers, and brackets
  • Chassis and suspension-system integration

TIG Welding & Custom Components

Our fabricators create functional components where appearance, packaging, material selection, and serviceability all matter.

  • Custom stainless exhaust and headers
  • Fluid-system and engine-bay components
  • One-off brackets, fittings, and closeout panels

Repair, Restoration & Metal Finishing

We restore compromised metal, correct fitment, and prepare custom work for the body and paint process.

  • Rust and collision-related panel repair
  • Panel fit, gap refinement, and alignment
  • Metal finishing ahead of bodywork and paint
Complete Builds & Finishing

From Custom Metalwork to Finished Vehicle.

Fabrication is only part of the process. Our team also coordinates mechanical installation, bodywork, premium PPG paint, wiring, and final assembly, with an emphasis on a cohesive finished result.

Complete Custom Builds & Restorations

From initial assessment through road testing, we take on complete builds, comprehensive restorations, and major modernization projects.

  • Disassembly and project planning
  • Custom fabrication and drivetrain integration
  • Electrical, mechanical, and final assembly

Mechanical & Final Assembly

We coordinate powertrain installation, chassis and brake systems, plumbing, wiring, fitment, and final setup to deliver a cohesive finished vehicle.

  • Drivetrain, suspension, and brake integration
  • Electrical, climate-control, and instrumentation systems
  • Final assembly, testing, and adjustments

In-House Paint & Bodywork

From Metalwork to the Final Finish.

Our body and paint team carries projects through panel fitting, bodywork, surface preparation, and premium PPG refinishing—including Deltron NXT products—so the finish receives the same attention as the fabrication beneath it.

  • Panel alignment, gap refinement, and preparation
  • Custom finishes, clearcoat, color sanding, and polishing
  • Coordinated body, paint, and final assembly work
Performance & Modernization

Better Performance, Reliability & Driveability.

A great classic should be enjoyable to drive. We help customers choose upgrades that work together, whether that involves a complete drivetrain conversion or improvements to a single system.

Powertrain & Performance

LS, LT, and Coyote engine conversions; transmission swaps; fuel system upgrades; custom exhaust; engine management and HP Tuners-based calibration.

Chassis, Suspension & Brakes

Chassis upgrades, suspension conversions, steering systems, brake upgrades, air suspension, and components selected for the way you intend to use your vehicle.

Electrical & Vehicle Integration

Complete wiring harnesses, EFI and ECU integration, modern gauges, electrical troubleshooting, and coordinated electronic systems.

Comfort, Controls & Final Setup

Vintage-style and modern climate control, instrumentation, steering components, driver controls, and final adjustments to make the whole package work properly.

Smaller Projects Welcome

Keep Your Classic on the Road.

Not every vehicle needs a full restoration. We work on classics, street rods, and specialty vehicles that need diagnosis, repairs, recommissioning, or routine attention.

Recommissioning & Return to Road

For cars and trucks that have been sitting, we start by evaluating the mechanical condition, then prioritize the fuel, ignition, cooling, electrical, brake, steering, and other work needed to make the vehicle safe and dependable.

Classic Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

Diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs for classic and modified vehicles—from charging and starting concerns to drivability, leaks, brakes, and suspension work.

Parts & Professional Installation

Buy Your Upgrades From Us. Have Us Install Them.

We can help select compatible parts from quality manufacturers, source them through our parts business, and handle installation, fabrication, integration, and setup. Customers who only need parts can still shop the catalog.

How Projects Begin

A Straightforward Starting Point.

Tell us about the vehicle and your priorities. We can discuss practical options and a preliminary scope before either side commits to a larger project.

1

Tell Us About It

Send the year, make, model, desired work, and photographs through our project estimate request form.

2

Review the Options

Our team considers the project scope, likely requirements, and shop availability, then follows up with you.

3

Plan the Next Phase

For approved work, we confirm the process and coordinate the next steps, with documented progress as work begins.

About free preliminary estimates: Initial project discussions and preliminary estimates are complimentary. Custom vehicles often have concealed issues or unknown conditions. Detailed inspections, disassembly, or engineering/planning may be billable and will be discussed in advance. Preliminary estimates are not fixed-price quotations.
