Squid's Rod Shop offers Dakota Digital VHX analog-style instrument systems for 1966-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle and Malibu applications. Our current catalog includes VHX-66C-CVL for 1966-1967 models, VHX-68C-CVL for 1968 models, VHX-69C-CVL for 1969 models, VHX-70C-MAL for 1970-1972 Malibu and non-SS Chevelle dashboards, and VHX-70C-CVL for 1970-1972 Chevelle SS-style dashboards.

Dakota Digital VHX Instrument Systems

Dakota Digital VHX gauges combine classic analog instrument styling with modern electronic accuracy and functionality. These systems feature precision stepper-motor movements, fully illuminated needles, backlit gauge faces, and integrated LCD message centers.

Available instrumentation includes vehicle speed, engine RPM, oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level, and voltage. Additional features include odometer and trip information, electronic speedometer calibration, performance measurements, and configurable warning indicators. Specific functions and display configurations vary by instrument system and installed accessories.

Chevelle & Malibu Dashboard Compatibility

Proper instrument selection is especially important for 1970-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle and Malibu models because different dashboard configurations require different gauge systems.

Malibu and Non-SS Chevelle Dashboards (VHX-70C-MAL): Designed for vehicles equipped with the original sweep-style speedometer dashboard. This system integrates six analog gauge readouts and a multifunction LCD message center into the factory-style instrument layout.

Chevelle SS-Style Dashboards (VHX-70C-CVL): Designed for vehicles equipped with the round-gauge SS-style dashboard. This system provides six analog instruments with integrated LCD message centers and is designed for installation into compatible original or reproduction gauge carriers and bezels.

Earlier Chevelle applications also use model-year-specific gauge assemblies. Some systems require original or reproduction instrument bezels, mounting components, or additional accessories that may be sold separately. Confirming the existing dashboard configuration is essential before ordering.
