Squid's Rod Shop offers Dakota Digital VHX and HDX analog-style instrument systems for first- and second-generation Chevrolet Camaros. Our current catalog includes both VHX and HDX systems for 1967-1968, 1969, and 1970-1981 models. These vehicle-specific instruments provide comprehensive gauge upgrades while maintaining compatibility with appropriate original-style dashboard layouts.

Dakota Digital Instrument Systems

VHX Analog Instrument Systems: Dakota Digital VHX gauges combine classic analog instrument styling with modern electronic accuracy and functionality. These systems feature precision stepper-motor movements, fully illuminated needles, backlit gauge faces, and integrated LCD message centers.

Available instrumentation includes vehicle speed, engine RPM, oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level, and voltage. Additional features include electronic speedometer calibration, odometer and trip information, performance measurements, and configurable warning indicators. Specific features and display configurations vary by application.

HDX Analog Instrument Systems: The Dakota Digital HDX Series provides enhanced customization and modern electronic functionality while retaining traditional analog gauge movements. These systems feature six analog gauge readings, configurable full-color TFT message centers, and adjustable illumination colors for the gauge faces, needles, and digital displays.

HDX systems also include configurable warning indicators, electronic calibration, and additional vehicle information displays. Available settings can be adjusted through the instrument controls or compatible Dakota Digital mobile application. These systems are particularly well suited for custom Camaros and high-performance restomods where both traditional styling and modern functionality are desired.

Camaro Dashboard Compatibility

Squid's Rod Shop offers Dakota Digital gauge systems for three primary Camaro dashboard applications:

• 1967-1968 Camaro: VHX-67C-CAM and HDX-67C-CAM instrument systems.
• 1969 Camaro: VHX-69C-CAM and HDX-69C-CAM instrument systems.
• 1970-1981 Camaro: VHX-70C-CAM and HDX-70C-CAM instrument systems.

Instrument systems are designed for specific dashboard configurations and may require original or reproduction instrument bezels, mounting components, or additional accessories. Some Camaro configurations, including vehicles equipped with factory console gauges or specialized instrument arrangements, require different instrument systems or additional components. Confirming the existing dashboard and equipment configuration is important before ordering.
